I'm guilty of trying to interpret what's happening through my eyes instead of the eyes of another; of using my perception to interpret the motives of another, instead of realizing that it's bound to not only not work but he painful at the same time. Worst of all, I'm guilty of not following my own damn advice.

About half of the states allow first cousins to marry, according to stateline.org, a research site on state laws.

I'd be curious to see a geopolitical map with the distribution of those states :D

Original insanity here.

All sorts of good news this morning.

Item le premier:

I just found out that my first month's rent will be reduced by a third. Since I'm taking posession of the apartment on the 11th of april, they're pro-rating my rent from to (You'd assume that since it's 2/3 of a month, it'd be but no. The amount owing is worked out on a calendar month basis. The 11th to 30th April is 20 days inclusive and the amount owing would therefore be 750 x 12 divide by 365 x 20). Makes perfect sense. Ya. Anyway, The paperwork will be sent off in the next few days.

Item le second:

I have just received a call from the British High Commission. At 8:45 on the first day back from a 4-day weekend. Hell must be getting nippy! Thank you loverly lady on the phone!! They confirm that I do not need any special stamp or paperwork. I simply need to get my ass to Heathrow with my passport and my appointment papers to the EMBL and I just mosey on through immigration.

So come on folks, mamba with me!

I've been feeling a bit bleh tonight. I don't know if it's because I'm tired or something else, but it's a good thing Boris has been clingy tonight, cause he's gotten and given a lot of love. I'm really going to miss the bugger. I never realized just how affectionate a cat can be.

I was talking with Katy earlier today, chastising her for taunting me with food and other assorted naughty things, when we realize that the UK switched to regular non-daylight savings time a week ahead of the rest of the civilized world. So, until April 3rd, at which time North America moves forward one hour, instead of the regular 5-hour time difference, there will be a 6-hour gap. We are not amused.

Why? Lord, why???

Boris is shedding like mad. There's cat fur all over the place. And I mean it. There are fluffballs floating in the air currents in the apartment. It's quite pretty, actually.

Saw it this morning. Gave me a happy feeling.
