Just got a phone call from a former boss \/ potential boss \/ contact at McGill. He's busy as hell these days, but took the time to call me regarding the CV I'd left him. Basically, McGill already received the money for the position, but they've yet to even announce the job to the public. So right now, my CV isn't just on top of the pile – it is the pile :D<\/p>\n
Now that doesn't mean that I'm getting the job – far from it – but it means that I get to be the baseline against which they judge everybody else :) That, and the fact that most of the people in the department already know me, or know people who know me.
