Katy and I took advantage of the fact that my mom was in the UK last night and had our first dinner out in (more than)\u00a0 2 years. We went to the Cross Keys in town.\u00a0 It was a really good meal and they really took care of us.\u00a0 I had a starter of bubble and squeak with bacon and a poached egg, followed by a nice steak with chips,\u00a0 mushrooms and a blue cheese sauce and a lemon cheesecake for dessert.\u00a0 Katy had a smoked salmon starter,\u00a0 duck and roast veg for main and the same cheesecake for pud.\u00a0 We had a nice bottle of Brunello, and when the pub owner heard of our lack of nights out,\u00a0 he gave us a shot of vodka with lime and lemongrass (really nice!).\u00a0 We were playing “guess where the hostess is from”, because her accent was really hard to pin down.\u00a0 Turns out that,\u00a0 after a series of clues including the fact that her country once won eurovision, we narrowed it down to Latvia. She was really nice,\u00a0 and gave us contacts for babysitting. She also extracted a promise from us to come back within a month :-)\u00a0 all in all,\u00a0 a nice evening.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
