BERLIN – Pope Benedict believes the Harry Potter books subtly seduce young readers and “distort Christianity in the soul” before it can develop properly, according to comments attributed to him by a German writer.

    Cree. Py.

But, on the other hand, he seems to be into a brand of catholicism that isn't much to do with Political Reality, but with the potential of the human interior. I can dig that, though I don't want it to run my life, and I can certainly see how he'd say that. Potter isn't particularly Christian, and certainly isn't very Catholic. Religion is so earnest, so literal, you know? It has to be, or it doesn't work properly. It requires pure belief, absolute and unshakeable, and perspectives distinct from that of the religion do detract from it.

… so he's right. I mean, it's uncomfortable, unpleasant, and a dangerous thing to have running around the free world, but it isn't untrue.

Thank you, Pope “Eggs”, for that review of books you've obviously never even read.

Autrement dit, lire Harry Poter empêche de proprement endoctriner les petits enfants à l'esprit maléable…

Quote of the day

"It would seem that you have no useful skill or talent whatsoever," he said. "Have you thought of going into teaching?"
