Christmas dinner

Tonight was my first “new team” holiday gathering. I’d volunteered to organise something and, with a bit of help from my friends, I think we pulled it off.  We had Chinese hot pot, with a cubic buttload of food. The overall comments from the evening were very positive and everyone seemed to eat, drink and be merry. I hope we’ve started a new team tradition :-) Even though the day started off on a bit of a rocky footing, with the venue saying thy hadn’t received the payment to release the keys,  I’m glad it ended up going very well and people enjoyed themselves. I’m going to bed with a full tummy, a slightly addled brain and a smile on my face. Good day indeed.

Quote of the day

Sam Vimes could parallel process. Most husbands can. They learn to follow their own line of thought while at the same time listening to what their wives say. And the listening is important, because at any time they could be challenged and must be ready to quote the last sentence in full. A vital additional skill is being able to scan the dialogue for telltale phrases such as "and they can deliver it tomorrow" or "so I've invited them for dinner?" or "they can do it in blue, really quite cheaply."
