It's a longshot, a really big one. I'm qualified for the job, and Shibl tells me I should take it if they offer it to me, but I really don't know what I'd to with McGill if they say yes. I'll cross that bridge if I need to. The upside is that the EMBL is a top-rated place to work, and it'd be only 1h away from Katy :)
We'll see. the job offer closes on the 30th of november. I'll keep y'all aboobie of the situation.

Thanks

Edit: Added the colour version during my lunch break :D Fear my mad photoshopping skilz.
Fuuuuuuuck.
I just came back from my parents' place in a rush because I'd invited people over to my place for an AD&D night. So what happens? They cancel, without bothering to call me. I had to go online and check my email when they were one hour late.
That, I am sorry to say, is unacceptable. I could have spent a lovely evening with the parental units, instead of being all pressed for time.
Blerhg.
Conversation with my mom:
Me: Which do you think would freak out dad more, if Trading Spaces came knocking, or What not to wear?
Mom: What not to wear. Could you imagine those two coming in and throwing out all the old clothes he lives in?
… and then both of us burst out laughing, with images of shotguns being used on those poor hapless fashionistas.
Spent a part of the afternoon watching wood burn in the fireplace, speaking with Katy. Remember sweetie, a horse eating banananananananas.
Off to read a bit, night!
…making users happy, one application at a time.
Just finished installing apps on my dad's computer. He's happy as a clam now that he can do spreadsheets and has a calendar/agenda app. Just doing some finishing touches on the firewall and security settings, and my work here is done. On the flipside, I'm eating mom-baked chocolate cake :D hmmmm, cake!
Something right out of the blue: Tia called. Poor thing was going nuts because her broadband was out. I don't know if I did her a service by pointing out that her laptop had a build-in modem…
Going to take it easy today. It's a perfect day to do nothing. I'm going to go downstairs and stare at the fire. Yup, that's the plan.
Etienne gave me a ride to the parental units' place tonight. I have to say that I wasn't the best company in the car, as my usual defense mechanism (i.e. falling asleep in any sort of transportation vehicle) coupled with the heating in his car kept making me fall asleep.
I'm here this weekend to do a few errands: fix my dad's computer, get my kimono patched up (it was torn in a moment of … ahem… enough of that) and deliver a cock to my mom. I'm also bringing Katy's jeans here so they can be shipped back to the UK.
Slow but busy weekend ahead. I have tons of work-related reading to do, which I'll get done while I'm re-installing apps on my dad's computer. Oh, and I found a stow-away in my bag while I was unpacking. A certain lion is now on my bed downstairs :)
Dont know why theres no sun up in the sky

Im weary all the time
Hee hee hee :D
I'd been in email conversation with the hotel manager to confirm my reservations and all, when I wrote in the last email:
I've been reading online reviews of the hotel and I must say I'm looking forward to my stay. I did run across something interesting on [a british hotel reservation website] that mentions a free bottle of champagne for 2 or more guests staying 2 or more nights. Would it be horribly cheeky of me to ask to if this could be applied post-reservation? *grin*
The response:
A bottle of Champagne it is *smile*
You have to love the british :D
Spent last night watching the US election returns with the boys. Most people thought that there would be a decision last night. I had my doubts. Events have proved me right. I wish I wasn't :( I feel it in my bones that dubya is going to win, and that scares me. Everybody left round 11:30, as we are all old fogeys. I was asleep before my head touched the pillows.
I confirmed my reservation at a nice-looking London hotel. Lookee here. The room is 50 pounds a night. If you want your own en-suite bathroom, it's 80 pounds. Now I'm sorry, but I'm not paying 30 pounds (67$ canadian) for a bathroom. I don't mind using the common facilities on the floor. Besides, the hotel only has 17 rooms, and 5 floors, with one loo per floor (and about half the rooms have en-suite facilities). Michel and I had worse odds when we were in a B&B in New Orleans.
