The house is full of holiday chocolate and I can't have any because it all has traces of nuts. That sucks.
I can't be bothered to think anymore
I am officially stopping my work day now.
This day hasn't been the best one in a while. Lets see the high points:
- The 3am 100-meter bread-machine dash to take a loaf of bread out of the machine before it gets soggy to hell and gone.
- Almost missing my bus this morning.
- Realizing that the workflow I started last night before going home, which had been running all night, was using the wrong codebase and therefore was more than useless.
- Having a fire drill sprung on me.
- Having a meeting sprung on me.
- Spending the rest of my day wrestling with an interoperability problem of having to get java to talk nicely with C# and perl and then realizing that it's fucking impossible and a huge pain in the ass.
So yes, right just this minute, I wish I was home and a bit drunk.
Update: To round out this day, I fell asleep on the bus and when I woke up in a rush to get off at my stop, I left the plastic bag with all my lunch tupperware of the week and two forks. Go me :(
can i sit down now?
So tonight, I have:
– washed the dishes, twice†
– made two loaves of bread
– done two loads of laundry and folded one
– wrapped up all the presents for her parents and her secret santa
Organized me is scary.
†I swear, when Katy is feeling better, she owes me a month of washing up!
On another note, I've been stupidly burpy all day. I really need to shake up my diet because something is giving me gas, to the point where it's painful and I'm burping for hours on end. I'm so sexy when that happens too…
On fish and logic bugs
Katy had her interview at the Sanger today. From what she told me, I think it went well. Apparently, her boss is known to the powers that be here so that went quite a long way to soothe some of her anxieties. After her interview, I bought her a celebratory muffin and mince pie (cause it's a rule, you have to treat yourself to something nice after an interview) and I went to show her the fish that congregate in the little lake on the grounds.
And now for something completely different, I found a really really nasty logic bug today. I ran across it totally by accident, which does not please me. It's nasty and will require me to reload all the ontologies in the OLS (which will take about 2 days – joy). On the plus side, it's a quick fix and also allows me to implement something I needed to do but wasn't that critical and didn't warrant reloading everything.
Frabjous day
I submitted my manuscript, aw yeah *dancies*
A year in review
Try this one. Go back through your archive of 2005 and pick one post topic for representative of each month. Mine are:
January – My junk isn't jacked up.
February – Me? Absent-minded? Never!
March – Life as a “Clean Sweep” episode.
Apris – You need to fill in form VAF1…
May – My furniture saga unfolds
June – It's hot and it's wet, which is good in a woman but bad in a city.
July – No, this is not Phil's Taxi Service.
August – I can't have my pussy :(
September – The joys of passport control.
October – What to do when the people around you aren't feeling well.
November – I have met the Grogan clan today.
December – Housework sucks big sweaty donkey balls.
Looking back on this year, though a lot of good things have happened to me, its been a hard year for those I love. I hope the next one is better.
Icon of the day
Saw a bigger version of it online and had to make an LJ version of it:

foooooooooooood!
In continuing with our “way the hell too early for xmas” traditions this year, katy wanted me to cook a traditional xmas dinner tonight. So, we had stuffed chicken, bacon-wrapped-sausages (apparently, it's traditional here) and a ton of trimmings. Suffice it to say, we're both full as we had food for a complete family and there's only two of us.
Excuse me while I go digest now.
Housework sucks big sweaty donkey balls
So far today, I've washed dishes and cleaned up the whole kitchen, changed the bed linens and done laundry, tidied up the living room and sorted through the piles of paperwork on my desk, taken out the garbage and the recycling and gone to pick up Katy's prescription.
I'm fed up of cleaning, and there's still more to do as this is our last real weekend before we leave for canadia.
joy.
