I love that picture MJ.
Notes from a bemused canuck

I love that picture MJ.
So I got woken up by Boris jumping on me this morning. This shouldn't be a big thing, he's a cat, and they do that. What makes this interesting is that he managed to open the closed and properly latched bedroom door to get into my room.
Just had a two-hour phone conversation with my sweetums. You have to love phone cards. That call, in prime time, cost me the whopping sum of 85 cents :) It was good to talk to her for a good chunk of time. We talked about everything and nothing, and… other things too. It was nice. I realize just how much good it does to me to hear her voice.
I'm leaving in 42 days now :)
Meeting today went well. That's as much as I want to talk about it today, cause it's work, and work is done until monday. Suffice it that I'm relieved, I know where I'm headed and have a clearer picture of what needs to be done. It's enough for now.
I've worked up an appetite, so I'm going to fix a snack until Sara gets here and we have dinner.
*happy sigh*

From the article:
The American ambassador to Canada warned yesterday that Ottawa's plan to de-criminalize marijuana would exacerbate already dire congestion problems at the U.S. border. Paul Cellucci said the bill would give the impression pot was easier to obtain in Canada, which would put U.S. Customs officers on high alert for smugglers. The increased inspection and questioning of certain people coming into the United States would slow up crossing points already bogged down with security-related screening […]
My favourite quote of the article was this:
The ambassador otherwise painted a generally positive picture of relations between the two countries. Differences over such social issues as same-sex marriage, and the hope of many Canadians that George W. Bush, the U.S. President, would lose last week's election will not undermine the solid ties, he said.
bwahahahahahahaha! Yes, Dubya is our bestest buddy.
On November 10, 1969, the long-running children's TV series made its debut with many of the same Muppet characters who are on the show today.
So, share your Sesamy Street memories, the lot of you :)
I've been trying to get rid of windows messenger for ever on my laptop and finally found the magic bullet.
For those of you using XP, go to start menu->run->type gpedit.msc
It's the policy editor and lets you tweak a TON of stuff you'd normally not have access to.
Oh, and pop, you're officially not allowed to use this :D
x = yes
o = no

Your mission, should you choose to accept it…
Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something amusing, or pervy or just plain wrong. Something that will bring a smile to peoples' faces. Or you could go with her idea and post something cute and adorable and funny.. up to you.
Include these instructions, and share the love.

Either you people haven't seen this yet, or you're all blase, cause this actually distrubed the hell out of me when I first saw it :)
Went to see Ghost in the shell 2 tonight with
eniran,
emjayne,
sbourge and
syracusepoet. It's a visually stunning movie, but I'm sure I missed layers upon layers of metaphilosophical crap – if only because the subtitles were too fast. There would be tons of poetry and theology and metaphysics-laced dialog and then, ooh!, look, shiny elephant!
Still, worth the price of admission.
I thought it was at the Paramount, so while I was walking down Peel to get there talking to Katy, I should in fact have been going to Cinema du Parc. No major harm done, I made it on time so it's all good.
After the movie, Sara, Stephane and I headed over to my place for food and insanity. For the first time ever, I cooked 3 different meals for 3 different people :) Watched a bit of TV, talked a bit, discovered that Sara is a gas-ventriloquist and now I'm off to bed.
On a completely unrelated note, ever since Katy left, my stress-related muscle pains and annoying gas have come back with a vengance. For the whole MONTH she was here, I was perfectly fine. Since she's been gone, my shoulder and chest are killing me and I'm burping like a friggin idiot :( That is not good. Not good at all.In fact, that sucks the big ass.
I have a friend who's had a really, really rough year. It started with a viral encephalitis that left him in the hospital for a few weeks and is gradually robbing him of his higher cognitive functions. Stress is an aggravating factor for his neuronal loss. He's quitting his Ph.D. cause he doesn't feel he can finish it. His wife just left him for another man – when both of them had just left for a year-long work-study trip abroad.
He just came back from Switzerland last night to try and get his life back together. I just talked to him right now. I'm shocked. I know he's probably groggy and jetlagged to hell and gone, but I've never heard him talk like this… His speech was slow and halting, like he was struggling to find the proper words.
This conversation shocked me to the core. This was a man who, this time last year, was happy, healthy and whole. It made me realize that I'm a lucky bastard. For all the whining and bitching i do, I am blessed with the love of a woman I'm madly in love with, friends that support me, and a body that's in pretty good shape, all things considered. Think about it.
This has been your 30 seconds of moralizing. We now return to the insanity currently in progress.
