Went to help Michel move stuf from his gf's old apartment to his condo. What was supposed to be a 3 hour move, with only a few pieces of furniture and some boxes, morphed into a 7h move that filled most of a U-Haul cube van. Still, I don't mind giving them a hand. I know they'd to the same for me. Still, I'm going to feel this one tomorrow… The low note of the night was when I realized that Isa had a non-allergy-friendly cat in her apartment and all her sofas were covered in cat hair… I'd kinda forgotten that I was allergic. I remembered the hard way. I'd forgotten how annoying it is to sneeze 10 times in a row.

Went to Hurleys for drinks with eniran last night, which hit the spot for both of us, as we both needed to talk. Lots of stuff happening these days, some good, some less. She looked over the gift I'm sending petkatyyazzick and pronounced it good. She also looked over the barwench and pronounced her good (rowr!) Got home, ate pasta goodness and mainly putzed around the apartment and played with the cat.

Got into the office at a decent time – I've actually been really good about coming into the office on time for the last month or so – and got some work done. Went walking with emjayne today, which is always a source of enjoyment. Went shopping for undies, which is the second time in two days I've been in a lingerie store. I think I'm developing a fetish :D

Went to McGill to see a client, which went ok, and then to the McIntyre to see the dean. He wasn't there again today, damnit. That's twice this week I've tried to get in touch with him *pout*. Meh, it's been a good day overall.

I've been in a very good mood recently, as a few of you know. I blame Katy for that :P It's all her fault. She makes me feel good. To exacerbate the situation, she just told me that she's going to confirm her tickets to come over here in October some time next week. I mean, how can I guy maintain a sour disposition when people around him keep giving him reasons to do a happy dance in the office and scare his coworkers silly?

Had a client meeting today with a non-technical client. I now want to shoot myself. Highlights:

client: we need your database to support many internet providers
me: okaaay, but I thought the hospital had its own net connection
client: yes, but sometimes they don't connect properly. Just today, I tried to use the Internet Explorer provider, but it wouldn't connect, so I switched to the Netscape provider and that worked. We need to be able to use multiple internet providers.
me: oooh, you mean browsers.

Then, they start going over every line of the fucking specification document, commenting on “should this label be called comment or remarks?”. FOR TWO FUCKING HOURS!

This is the 7th version of the spec document. It's been on the table for the last 4 months. We walked in thinking this version was going to be approved, as our last meeting was mostly nitpicking (again!). Um, no. Yet again, new stuff came out of the woodwork. Stuff that was never on the original contract. When we mention this, we only get big blank cow stares, and snide comments of the sort “but it's so much more logical. What's the use of having a system we can't use?”. Then when we say it's going to take more time and resources, and will cost more, they bitch. God damnit, they're already getting this huge project at bargain-basement ridiculously low prices. Shut the fuck up, will you?

My favourite quote of this meeting was “we're women, we change our minds often”. I wanted to jump over the table and bitchslap the condescending cow.

Dear lord, our bathroom smells like a bordello. I used to live with two women, and there weren't as many bottles of perfume, deodorant , hair goop and flowery-scented candles. You walk into the room and there's a wall of sickeningly-sweet smell waiting to smack you.
