So the day started with breakfast in bed, with one cat looking on with much interest, and another one just being confused.
Then Katy got onto the serious business of opening her presents.
And later, there was cake!
Much later (the following day), there was wine.
We walked into town to have a bit of quiet adult time. We met up with the oldies and youngun just before the movie – we’d booked to see the latest Star Wars and then we went to Wagamama’s for dinner. I got tots emosh with the movie. Now my belly is full and I’m enjoying coffee and a timbit because, random, a Tim Horton opened in Leicester. I just realized that between having found a source of poutine cheese in Switzerland and timbits in the UK, there’s no longer a need for me to go back to Canada!
While the day itself was… a bit rocky, the evening was very pleasant.
Katy and I went to the 45 West gin school yesterday, and I made my own bottle of gin!!

Katy’s birthday cake this year was a yule log (she asked for it). It was amusingly decorated, but we thought we could improve on it.

Today was Katy’s 30th birthday. We gave her her prezzies this morning, then headed in to town for a nice meal at San Carlo’s, then cocktails then movies. We saw the Chronicles of Narnia and then Harry Potter. For once in a very long time, Katy isn’t ill on her b’day nor is she having her period, and she got spoiled rotten and a bit pissed, so you can’t really ask for more :)
P: Katy’s birthday presents are upstairs, but I’m not sure where M has put her balloon.
K: I’m not sure I was meant to know about the balloon
P: Oh, at least I didn’t mention the cake in the box outside.
K: I’m not sure I was meant to know about that either.
I love her, but the woman can’t keep a secret to save her life :) Even M says that if you don’t want her to spill the beans on a secret, don’t tell her at all and if you really want something to be known, start it with “don’t tell anybody, but…”
