The spirit of rock
It’s Sunday. I’m cooking a Ben birthday / mom early Christmas feast and listening to the music of my teen years:
“She Sells Sanctuary” ̵ The Cult
“Mary Jane’s Last Dance” ̵ Tom Petty
“Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)” ̵ Green Day
“Losing My Religion” ̵ R.E.M
“Sweet Emotion” – Aerosmith
“Under Pressure” ̵ Queen/David Bowie
“Black Hole Sun” ̵ Soundgarden
“Highway To Hell” ̵ AC/DC
“Run Like Hell” ̵ Pink Floyd
“Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” ̵ The Police
“Kashmir” ̵ Led Zeppelin
“We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions” ̵ Queen
“No Rain” ̵ Blind Melon
“You Shook Me All Night Long” ̵ AC/DC
“Money” ̵ Pink Floyd
“Young Americans” ̵ David Bowie

Teenage memories
When I was a teenager, still living at my parents’ and afterwards in my shared flat in Montreal, I used to have this poster. It was from the 1988 Pink Floyd Canadian tour. It was made by a company/artist called Harron.
It is now completely impossible to find one.
This makes me sad.
Botanical garden lanterns
One of the things I really miss from Canada is the annual Garden of Lights at the Botanical Garden, in Montreal. It’s one of the first things Katy and I saw when she came over in 2004, and will always have be a special place for us.
Suuuuuushi
We went to Tokyo Sushi Bar in the old port today, to have lunch with Sara and Em. We had a giant plate of tempura to share, then a beautiful platter of sushi. Bishoku-calibre sushi, with Bishoku-calibre service! Bean had miso soup and a super generous portion of teriyaki chicken and tempura.
When the bill came, we were shocked, happily so. The amount and quality of food in Switzerland would have cost 3 times the price!!
