Confetti
Katy and I went see Confetti last night (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427089/)
Most excellent movie. A wedding magazine is holding a “most original themed wedding” contest with 3 couples getting married on the same day at the same venue. One is a tennis-themed wedding, one is a naturist wedding and one is a big production singing/dancing wedding.
The whole thing was completely unscripted and they just improvised around the basic concept. It was brilliant. The actors didnt know about what everybody else was up to and were even encouraged not to talk to some of the other actors before filming so it would really be the first time that they met them once the camera started rolling, to keep it more spontaneous.

And the gay wedding planners were just too cute :)
March of the penguins
We went to see March of the Penguins last night. It was a fun, light, highly anthropomorphised movie and, though it was mildly perilous (sic), we had fun. My only thought now after seeing that movie is that, man, the noise of that colony must be impressive and furthermore, it must just *mong*!!
Of course, Katy now wants a penguin.
But hey, we all saw that one coming.
The physics of King Kong
Katy managed to find a team of wild horses to drag me to see King Kong. I really wasn't loking forward to see it, I dunno, it really didn't appeal to me. After seeing it, I'm still bleh. It's not the worst movie ever made, but I really annoyed the hell out of me. It could easily have been a half-hour shorter and has plot holes big enough to drive a Mac truck through. The female lead character annoyed the hell out of me and all in all, this movie is way too in love with CGI. So, all in all, I've seen it and Katy enjoyed it, so that's ok.
We went to see her uncle Michael and her auntie Mina. That woman can cook and her kitchen smells like indian heaven :) I got a new curry recipe which I will be posting as soon as I type it up.
I hate Dumbledore
Went to see the latest Harry Potter movie last night with Katy. I really don't like the new Dumbledore. He really doesn't have it. Richard Harris will always be Dumbledore in my eyes. He had the goofy, benevolent, unflappable air about him that the new guy just doesn't have. Dumbledore does *not* lose it in public and act like a headless chicken. And yes, I know that the book is insanely long compared to the previous 3, but I felt that the movie left out a hell of a lot of important stuff.
Meh.
I'll put my pig up against anybody's!
I only need to brush up on my yorkie pud technique and I'll be ready to match my sunday dinner against Katy's mom. The pig joint we had tonight was spot on, with wonderlicious crackling, lots of veggies and gravy. Hmmmm, bisto!
We went to see The Corpse Bride. I was happily surprised with the movie. Burton movies for me are hit or miss, but I liked this one.
Crash and scratch
My semi-annual clothing foray was done last night. I needed to get some tshirts as my stock of existing ones is getting threadbare. I scored a few nice ones from Next and some cool lounging pants from Debenhams, so I'm happy. I might have to exceptionally have a third semi-annual forway to get more tshirts though, but that's ok.
We went to see Crash last night. It's a good movie, but I only give it 8/10. There is room for improvement in one or two of the characters, but otherwise, it's a very thought-provoking movie and should be seen. It makes you think and makes you uncomfortable. I was disappointed that I could predict a few bits, which is usually never good in a drama. We went with Katy's workmates. Katy and I were there an hour and a half early (ok, we were shopping, but still) and still we managed to get into the movie 5 minutes late because we were waiting for some people who were faffing around. See me not being impressed.
The bad news from last night is that Katy gave her car an ouchie in the parking garage. Le poo.
We're becoming social again!
Two movies in 3 days, a record for us recently :) Katy and I saw Madagascar on monday night, and we went to see Charlie and the chocolate factory last night with a bunch of Katy's coworkers. I was happily surprised with CCF. Normally, I'm not a really big fan of Tim Burton movies, but I liked this one.
