Dinner was served

Posted on January 18, 2004 By admin 1 Comment on Dinner was served

And was greatly appreciated by the lass for whom it was cooked. Black-Tulip came over for dinner and a movie. I finally fixed my blender (sidenote: WOOHOO!), so I made cream of carrot soup, which she had for the first time and found delish. Then I made my ever so famous penne in cream sauce du jour. It's loosely based on a carbonara, but usually changes every time I make it. This day's version had chicken breast, mushrooms, shallots, white wine (the little riesling I'd brought back from Sattui), butter, cream and loads of freshly grated parmesan. A cholesterol special, but damn, it was probably my best one yet. That also went down with great fanfare. After that, we settled down to watch the Italian job and then talked about my trip after the movie.

She's now safe at home, and I'm going off to bed.

Nighters all.

Quote of the day

The one positive thing you could say about the bread products around him was that they were probably as edible now as they were on the day they were baked. *Forged* was a better term. Dwarf bread was made as a meal of last resort and also as a weapon and a currency. Dwarfs were not, as far as Vimes knew, religious in any way, but the way they thought about bread came close.
