AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH! Stupid underground train station!

Posted on May 24, 2004 By admin 1 Comment on AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH! Stupid underground train station!

NooOOOOOooOOoooOoOoO!

So here I was, minding my own business on the train back to Montreal, when my cell phone rings. CallerID says “unknown caller”, which is not really uncommon. I answer, and a very nice-sounding voice says: “Hi, it's [info]raspberrysalmon“.

It's the first time I've ever done a vocal double-take. In my defense, I was a bit groggy from having slept the whole trip and I really wasn't expecting a phone call from Austria. Still, it's a pleasant surprise! We really didn't get to talk all that much, as I was minutes away from the station, and my cell phone died when we got underground. DAMNDAMNDAMNDAMN! *pout*

It's a dog's life

Posted on May 24, 2004 By admin 68 Comments on It's a dog's life

I wish I had a camera right now. I'm sitting on the big recliner in the living room, reading a book. The dog is curled up in a tight little ball between my feet, with its head resting on my leg. She's soooo cute. Once in a while, she'll let out a big sigh or a little whimper. I'm curious to know what dogs dream of… maybe steak-growing trees or edible cars… She's awake now, or at least her ears are. Every time a truck goes by, she'll look up to see if it's my dad. She doesn't do that for cars, only trucks. She's waiting for him to come back. Every time he leaves without her, she'll sit down in front of the dining room window, her chin on the sill, and wait for him. Such is man's best friend…

I want a puppydog.

I can't stand pain. It hurts me†

Posted on May 22, 2004 By admin 6 Comments on I can't stand pain. It hurts me†

I'm going to make this quick, for those of you who want to know. Met up with [info]eniran at Hurleys for a quick pint. Dusty wasn't there, which was uncool. I like her :) I think she's on vacation. Anyway, the cute barwench replacing her was fun nonetheless. I got the present for [info]raspberrysalmon from eniran, which was good for a few laughs as we wanted to use it to clobber some biddies who were dissing Angelina Jolie near the fireplace.

We parted ways round 7pm and I headed to Weinstein & Gavino's to meet up with France. Had a great dinner, with fun conversation. After dinner, we went to a cigar shop and I indulged in my quarterly cigar. It's the only nicotine I allow myself, but it was a good night for it. We crashed on the McGill campus for a smoke and more talk. I like the girl, but there are some personality issues that might prevent me from really becoming attracted. Namely, she doesn't get the importance of silence and the joy of doing nothing. She doesn't understand how just sitting in a comfy chair, with good music and a cool drink can be a perfectly fine way to spend a weekend. She's the type of person that's always on the go, always doing something, always seeing people. I don't know if I want that. I like my quiet time… Anyway. It was a good evening, so that's fine for now.

Got home round midnight (and no eniran, I did not get lucky – nor did I really expect to :P), got everything ready for my train trip to Ottawa today and watched Muppets from Space before going to bed. I'm paying for that one today, as I'm seriously tired.

The train ride was good – as usual, it took me 15 minutes to go from Montreal to Ottawa. Talked a bit with [info]mekez before falling asleep for the whole ride. I'm really happy that he's found someone, and things are looking really up for him right now. Yay! What a difference a few weeks make :)

So now I'm home, and the kitchen smells really good – freshly baked apple pie. My mom spoils me :D She saw the gift I'm sending Tia and her reaction was priceless. I wish I'd had my camera close at hand.

I'm going to wrap this up now, as a nap on the couch sounds like a really, really good idea. And then there will be pie…

Well fuck you too

This is way beyond the ridiculous.

I hate Tomcat. It's evil.

And having someone tell you “I'm sure it's a simple thing” when you've already been spending 4 hours hitting your head against a wall does wonders for morale…Thanks boss.

Pertaining to matutinal activities

Had this waiting for me in my inbox this morning:

greetings…
given the fact that today i will not have the possibility to excruciate you in person by making fur of things that you didn't spell right and thereby induce the wish to increase your caffeine uptake in your still somnolent mind, i decided in favour of sending this memorandum in lieu thereof, which, i trust, will serve the selfsame purpose in a most exquisite way. :D
have a lovely day, niffum…!
T.

You gotta love it :D

One down, one to go

Posted on May 21, 2004 By admin 42 Comments on One down, one to go

Had my first decent date in months tonight.

Snuck out of the office tonight to meet Michelle at Hurleys. She's a nurse at the Jewish, 5'10″, blond, blue eyes, very curvy – she has meat on her bones – but not chunky. She's cute! Had a pint at Hurleys, and conversation was ok. We were both hunry, so we went to Bishoku across the street. She told me she loved‡ sushi, but was only experienced in shops at the mall for take out. Man, was she in for a treat :) She trusted me to order for her, so I got the classics (no, I didn't get anything nasty – though she did make a face at the soft-shelled crab, which she liked after having tasted). Dinner went well, with funny conversations flowing at a good clip.

At one point, [info]eniran calls. She's at a sex shop, because I asked her to go pick up the gift I'm sending [info]raspberrysalmon. For those of you who don't know it, it's a long story. Don't ask. She tells me the exact make and model isn't available, and starts listing a whole bunch of possibilites and that I need to choose, cause she doesn't want to buy the wrong thing (even though I have full confidence in her purchasing abilities). At this point, I'm having dinner in a nice restaurant, with a lovely girl I just met for the first time less than one hour ago, and I'm trying really, really hard not to laugh too loudly… Anyway, Michelle asked me what that was about, and I basically blamed it all on Eniran†.

After dinner, we took a walk to my office (to pick up my laptop – I needed to do a bit of work tonight) and then to Metro Video (she bought The Emperor's new groove, I bought Muppets from space – we have similar tastes in movies, btw). By that time, it was pouring rain outside, and she needed to go to bed early because she has an early shift tomorrow. All in all, a decent night :)

Now I'm home, gotten most of my work done (but my laptop is acting all bitchy), and realized that I have a shitload of stuff to do tomorrow:

– I need to buy a birthday card for my dad
– I think I'm double-booked for lunch, and I'll have to look into that
– I need to make and print out the DVD covers for the stuff I'm sending Tia
– I need to see Eniran before I have my date to pick up the thingie
– I need to make dinner reservations for my date (big d'oh! on that one)
– I need to bring my laptop and earphones, and call [info]mekez to confirm our train trip

… and I need to get some actual work done, and I'm also sure I'm forgetting something… sigh, can't wait for the weekend!

† I called her and told her this later on. She said: “oh, of course, no problem, I'd have done the same thing” :D
‡ Typo kindly pointed out by the snartass.

Someting new

Posted on May 20, 2004 By admin 8 Comments on Someting new

I was chatting with [info]judyna last night, about a picture I'd seen and really liked. While I was looking for it, I got the idea to start a little collection of artistic photographs that depict the female form in beautiful ways. The result is here.

There's still a glitch in the HTML that renders the table, but I don't have time to go root for the cause. I'll figure it out later. If you have pictures you'd like to suggest, feel free to let me know.

Quote of the day

There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: this glass is half full. And then there are those who say: this glass is half empty. The world *belongs*, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse *me*? This is my glass? I don't *think* so. My glass was full! *And* it was a bigger glass!
