Boring entry

Posted on February 8, 2005 By admin

Last night was crepe night at [info]sbourge's. Yummy food, too much sugar :) Watched Edward Scissorhands after dinner. It was.. meh. There's something about Tim Burton movies I just can't stomach. I can't put my finger on it. The movie is ok, but there's just something that makes my teeth grate. I liked Beetlejuice, and Nightmare before xmas is interesting, but for the rest… I have trouble.

I met with my financial whiz last night. BTW, if anybody out there in LJland needs a good financial planner, let me know. I have no qualms recommending Bernard. In the span of 2 years, he completely overhauled my financial profile from mmmokay to getting my money working for me and sanitizing my finances. He's also a genuinely nice guy.

Plans for the week now include seeing Ocean's Twelve tonight, going to the Musee des Beaux Arts tomorrow and the Planetarium on thursday. If anybody's interested to tag along, lemme know.

Another day, another 0.64$ after tax.

Posted on February 7, 2005 By admin 2 Comments on Another day, another 0.64$ after tax.

*yawn*

Slow day yesterday, as predicted. We didn't make the curries, cause Katy can't really eat spicy food these days because of her antibiotic-upset stomach. We'll have them later this week. On the other hand, I made yummy pizzas and bacon rolls and lemon cake, so that went according to plan. The bread was easier to make this time, cause I knew what to expect. Still as tasty though :)

We watched the superbowl with Sara. It was entertaining to watch Katy kibbitz and heckle the players for 2 hours (“that's the gayest display of testosterone I've ever seen!”).

This week should be fairly sedate. Going for crepes at casa Stephane, going to try a movie night on tuesday, museum night on wednesday, and that's all we have so far. I need to call the vet to see what I can do about Stinky (a.k.a Boris) cause he's not keeping himself as clean as a pussycat should and he STINKS! I think he's just still tender from his recent snipping, but still. I also need to go see my financial advisor to setup some RRSP loans and other financial details. I feel old when I talk about my RRSPs… weird.

Heyho, heyho, it's off to work I go.

Ho Hum…

Today will be a domestic day. Chores beckon. I've already done a few loads of laundry, with more do to. Later on, we're going to start cooking. On the menu: Laty's mom's curries, savoury pastries (again) and citrus bundt cake(again). I don't plan on going outside much today. Katy's still feeling less than stellar because of the antibiotics she's taking.

We went out yesterday to go to the “Salon de l'amour et de la seduction” being held at the Olympic stadium. What the frigging ads didn't mention is that there is a 12$ entry fee to get in. I was pissed off! I am not spending 25$ to go see stuff I could see free in a couple of stores around town. I was in the mood to go have a walk at the botanical gardens, but we decided to go have a walk around Atwater market. It smells *really* nice in there, and I found a butcher shop that sells tripe sausage casing, yay!

Finally, some understanding…

Posted on February 5, 2005 By admin 1 Comment on Finally, some understanding…

I found out what's going on with my website. Basically, there are 2 nameserver entries for www.flubu.com, one being at 207.44.134.115 and one at 72.9.240.17. Depending on what DNS record your ISP had cached, you would be seeing one version and not the other. I was updating the 207… one. If your ISP's DNS was pointing to the other, you weren't seeing bupkus. The problem is “fixed” in that synched the files among both versions.

Needless to say, I am not impressed with my ISP's tech support right now.

I had lunch with Katy earlier today. It was amusing to see her make love to her milkshake. Find below her impression of a walrus:

She also did an elephant, a rabbit and a vampire (with hissing noises!)

This is the look I got when I told her the pictures were going online :P

And people say I faff around

Posted on February 4, 2005 By admin 48 Comments on And people say I faff around

Getting to work was an experience this morning. Slept ok, even though Katy had a bit of a rough night. She's getting better, for which I'm thankful, but the antibiotics she's taking are making her a bit queasy. It's poo, but it's still better than the alternative. We're taking things slow and easy. Her fever took a lot out of her. She couldn't open a bottle of water yesterday. So, anyway, this morning, gravity was especially strong as I found it hard to get out of bed. Curse you increased gravity *shakes fist*

Ahem. So, I was a bit sluggish this morning. I was more alert than Boris – who's still getting over his trip to the vet yesterday where he lost a few bits of himself – but I was way off my regular schedule. As a side note, poor kitty… He was walking funny last night, and looked rather pathetic and disoriented. Now I agree with you that I'd probably be worse if I had my balls cut off, but it's for the best. He was getting to be a stinky kitty. I just hope it doesn't affect his mood too much. It took me an extra 20 minutes just to get out of the apartment… hmph, and people say I faff around after that.

So anyway, as I'm trying to leave to try and get to the office at a “reasonable” time, I kept getting pressured to perform oral acts upon the person who was occupying my bed†. Every time I tried to leave, I kept hearing “MORE!” I take it as a sign she's getting better.

I ended up taking a cab to work. This is where the distrubing part comes in. The cab driver was bald, but had HUUUUUUUUUUGE flaps of skin at the back of his skull. Like, scary, disturbing, can't-stop-looking-at-them sort of way. And they were shiny. Like he had some sort of alien growth on his head. He had to ask me where I was going twice because I couldn't stop staring…

Anyway, got to the office and now I'm working my way through some paperwork, joy. At least the weekend is coming and there will be much cooking. And the superbowl. Yay!

† And before you get all riled up, she wanted a kiss. Pervs, all of you…

I love your dad, he's so random!

Posted on February 4, 2005 By admin 4 Comments on I love your dad, he's so random!

Things that happened tonight:

  • Katy falling asleep on me and drooling on my shirt
  • Random snarly gargoyle noises punctuated by “oooh! email!”
  • Katy being unable to even approach me without me bursting in a fit of girly giggles
  • Random yelling of “you don't love me anymore” and “PANTS!”
  • “I like where you're headed, but just so you know, I'm going to fart soon”

Quote of the day

Sham Harga had run a succesful eatery for many years by always smiling, never extending credit, and realizing that most of his customers wanted meals properly balanced between the four food groups: sugar, starch, grease and burnt crunchy bits.
