Makin’ pancakes

Posted on July 18, 2018July 18, 2018 By admin

Ben wanted to make pancakes this morning. He asked me to make the batter, but he pretty much made himself a full stack of pancakes on his own. They looked nice too!

People never believe us

Posted on July 12, 2018July 16, 2018 By admin

We were looking for Tolstoy last night and found him in Ben’s bed. He tends to go there when Ben’s away. There is a child size hole in all the crap in his bed. That’s all the space he has to sleep in. And not shown in this picture are polar bear and beaver (who are with him at scout camp), the two giant ikea sharks, snowman blanket from Scottsdales and the stuffed wolf we always think is a real dog from Smythes.

Bit crowded

When the child is away, the parents will play! Going to see Jurassic World. There’s a bit of a crowd for the Sunday matinĂ©e…

Scout camp 2018

Posted on July 8, 2018July 9, 2018 By admin

And he’s off for another scout summer camp. This time, he seemed pretty excited to go. He’s been up since 5:30… He is so Katy’s son though. Nervous stomach, manic displacement, “there, I’ve interacted with a human being!” [actual quote, that last one]

Toques Junior Apero

Posted on June 19, 2018June 21, 2018 By admin

Ben’s cooking class had an apero, and they all prepared the food that was served. Quite impressive, and tasty! We’re all super happy to have found him a cooking activity. It was actually harder than expected.

Another weekend, another BBQ

Posted on June 17, 2018June 20, 2018 By admin

It’s a hard life

Bernhard organised a beach bbq in Preverenges. Big honking slab of dead cow, chicken, sausages, salads, good food and good company – some of which we hadn’t seen in quite a while. Ben spent most of the afternoon in the lake, and only just as we were leaving figured out that the girls were there to play with. That boy…

NRC family day

Posted on June 8, 2018June 11, 2018 By admin

The annual family picnic held a lot of promise, with bouncy castles, drones flights, rc cars, roller coaster simulator, among others. Sadly, the crappy weather we’ve been having had other plans. The site turned into a giant boggy mess.

We still managed to eat out own body weight in chips, cheese, fruit skewers, and grilled chicken, duck, beef, turkey, pork, lamb, sausages and salads. Then there were crĂŞpes, tartlets, meringues and waffle biscuits for desserts.

Hit him! HIIIIIIT HIMMMMMMM!

Posted on April 29, 2018December 6, 2018 By admin

Ben wanted to go on the bumber cars. Note, bumber cars, not dodgems. Switzerland is not ruled by a bunch of elf’n’safety pansies. At first, he was all “nooooooooooooooooooooooooo”. After a couple of minutes, he turned into a blood-thirsty maniac who was yelling “HIT HIIIIM! HE LIKES IT!!”

A nice genteel day

Posted on April 7, 2018April 9, 2018 By admin

We all went out for a walk to see the potters at the tulip fest. The cold weather we had recently means that the tulips are a bit behind schedule for the flowering, but it was still a gorgeous day, if only slightly marred by the alternatively whiny and I-want-to-buy-this bean. We took a train to Lausanne to browse a few shops and then go to our favourite brasserie for dinner. Again, very civilised.

For the most part.

Quote of the day

As castles went, this one looked as though it could be taken by a small squad of not very efficient soldiers. For defence, putting a blanket over your head might be marginally safer.
