Domestic weekend

Posted on October 18, 2004 By admin 3 Comments on Domestic weekend

Today was a slow but busy day. Katy and I had decided to spend a quiet day home, so we caught up on housework. Did a bajillion loads of laundry, cleaned the oven(!), swiffered and mopped floors, did dishes, changed the bed linens and cleaned the bathroom.

We just got back from getting some groceries for dinner tonight. On the menu: corn on the cob, cream of broccoli, mashed potatoes, sauteed mushrooms and steak. Katy tells me I lost weight, which is surprising considering all the cooking I've been doing. Must be all those calorie-burning activities we've been doing these past weeks.

I'm going back to work tomorrow. It's weird. I'm getting a bit nervous about it, truth be known.

FOOD PORN!

Posted on October 17, 2004 By admin

Behold, cheesecake!

Recipe for it is here. Just so you know, this is a no-bake cheesecake that took me all of 20 minutes to make!

Oh, and just to tease you all some more, that's homemade strawberry jam on top – I made it yesterday.

I rock.

Hmmm, breakfast

Posted on October 16, 2004 By admin 14 Comments on Hmmm, breakfast

Normally, weekday breakfast – if I can even be bothered – is coffee and a bagel. Weekends though are different. I can take the time to use my kitchen savvy. This mornign was eggs, stips of pork chops (in lieu of bacon), sauteed mushrooms with oregano, toast with brie, orange juice and coffee.

NUMMY!

Edit: I forgot to mention the homemade chocolate-chocolate chip muffins and the homemade stawberry jam.

Attack of things that go buzz

Posted on October 14, 2004 By admin 3 Comments on Attack of things that go buzz

I had to go to McGill yesterday morning for a work meeting, so Katy and I got up early and headed downtown. While I had my meeting, she proceeded to explore (and get lost in) the underground shopping centers.

After my meeting ended, I met up with her and had lunch at Reubens (hmmmm, dead cow burgers) and did a Plateau walking tour. Walked St-Denis to Carre St-Louis, then did Prince-Arthur to St-Laurent, up St-Laurent to Duluth, then back to St-Denis up to Mont-Royal and then took the metro home. I was a really nice walk, and I have pictures (I know, I know, I'm a lazy git to get them processed and online). The only nasty thing that marred an otherwise really nice walk was the fact that there were huge-ass wasps everywhere :( People who know me will know that is a bad thing.

Got home safe and sound and decompressed on the bed for a while before heading out to have crepe night at [info]sbourge with [info]eniran. That was a fun night, even though seeing Katy and Sara on a sugar rush was a scary sight.

Speaking of scary, being attacked by a pair of purple fuzzy boobs at 2am when you get out of the bathroom is not good for the ol' heart.

Today will be a busy day. Katy and I need to figure out if she can stay here an extra 2 weeks.

I hope, I hope, I hope…

Coaster art from Hurleys

Has drinkies with [info]emjayne and Mickey last night. Loads of fun. Tired this morning. Arm hurts, for some weird reason.

Just got back from walking on Mont St-Bruneau with Michel and Isabelle. As always, there are some pictures, I just need to get off my ass and post them. Shouldn't be *too* long now.

Starting to cook a stuffed chicken, then I'm taking a nap.

Quote of the day

The question seldom addressed is *where* Medusa had snakes. Underarm hair is an even more embarassing problem when it keeps biting the top of the deodorant bottle.
